Suspicious salesman going door to door in Kelowna

KELOWNA – A man going door to door on MacKenzie Road has raised suspicions in the neighbourhood.

Const. Steve Holmes says a man claiming to be selling furnaces and hot water tanks was going door to door but had no company identification and refused to leave a business card or brochure. It seems he is targeting seniors.

The man is described as a tanned Caucasian, approximately 30 years old, with short dark hair. No vehicle was seen.

RCMP are reminding people to be wary of door to door salesman who cannot provide proper credentials. Look for identification with a name and photo of the seller along with a company logo and contact information, a business card with the seller’s name and company information or other forms of documentation such as brochures with the company information.

If you are suspicious of the identification do not let the stranger into your home and close the door if they become insistent or aggressive. Call the police if you suspect you are being scammed.

S-do you feel safe?
C-is the person credible?
A-are they too aggressive?
M-are they asking for your money or banking information?
