UPDATE: Police investigation continues at Naramata shooting scene

PENTICTON – Police activity continues today, July 14, at a residence located at the end of Lindsay Road, on the Naramata Bench.

Penticton RCMP continue their investigation into a shooting that occurred at the residence at approximately 10:30 last night.

According to police, two men were involved in the incident. One is being treated for a gunshot wound while the second man is in custody.

Police appeared to be investigating the upper floor of the dwelling, which, according to neighbour Phil Quinn, had separate tenants occupying the upper and lower floors.

“I didn’t hear anything. I was down by the lake and came back up to lots of lights,” Quinn says.

He described his upstairs neighbours as two men in their late 20s, who appeared to be “like best friends.”

“Matt and Kyle have lived there for quite a while. I saw them down at the beach earlier yesterday, I believe they were picked up in a boat. They were really good friends, pretty good guys and good neighbours. I hope everything will be all right,” Quinn says.

Quinn, who has lived on Lindsay Road for 20 years, says the residence has been rented to different people over the years. He says the basement suite had recently been rented out to a man and woman.

Late this morning, a vehicle bearing the logo of the Penticton Summerland Dog Control arrived at the property.

Shortly afterward, two dogs that lived in the upstairs suite were picked up by family friends, according to police, who are expected to wrap up their investigation of the house some time today.
