Kamloops RCMP investigating potential mail thefts throughout city

KAMLOOPS – Officers are investigating several reports of tampered mailboxes across the city.

Const. Jason Epp, a spokesperson for the Kamloops detachment, says police received a report from Canada Post on July 7 about a bank of mailboxes opened on Lafarge Road in Dallas.

Two similar reports were made yesterday, July 13, of one mailbox opened at 1800 Greenfield Ave. in Brocklehurst and the second attempt to open a box at 1700 Tranquille Rd.

“(It’s) unknown if mail was taken, but I’m assuming if they were opened there would probably be mail taken,” Epp says.

Epp adds investigators believe someone used a screwdriver to open the boxes. The person behind the crime could be charged with mischief.
