North Thompson under a severe thunderstorm watch

KAMLOOPS – A large portion of the Central Interior is under a severe thunderstorm watch today, including the North Thompson.

Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch, noting conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms. These storms could bring strong winds, large hail and heavy rain.

The weather office warns large hail can cause injuries and damage property while strong wind gusts can down branches, overturn vehicles and toss loose objects.

A high of 26 Celsius is expected in Clearwater today, along with a 60 per cent chance of showers or thunderstorms with risk of a severe thunderstorm late this afternoon.

In Kamloops a high of 25 C is expected today along with a 60 per cent chance of showers. Temperatures will remain just below seasonal normals for the rest of the week before heating up to the mid-30s again this weekend.
