Pedestrian struck in Sun Peaks hit and run this weekend

SUN PEAKS – A pedestrian was struck by a pickup truck that left the scene in Sun Peaks early Sunday morning.

A group of three males were walking along Sun Peaks Road around 3 a.m. on Sunday, July 19, when a dark, older model Chevy S-10 pickup truck struck one male in the group, Kamloops Rural RCMP say in a release.

The 30-year-old victim was thrown from the road and suffered serious head and lower body injuries. The victim was transported to Royal Inland Hospital where he remains in serious but stable condition.

Police are seeking anyone with information on this hit and run or know of a vehicle fitting the description operating in the Sun Peaks area to contact the Kamloops Rural RCMP at 250-314-1800 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
