Regional district office renovations to start in September
PENTICTON – The first major renovation to the Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen’s headquarters on Martin Street in Penticton is late in starting, but still expected to be completed this year.
The project was supposed to get started shortly after this year's budget was tabled, but a change in staff and lengthy discussions over how to proceed resulted in a delay.
Regional district public works manager Roger Huston, who took over from Doug French when he retired in March, says planning for the project involved a lot of design input from staff.
“The architects are just putting the finishing touches on the drawings, and we’re in the final stages of completing a Request for Proposal,” he says. The closing date is expected to be August 7.
The district expects the $436,000 renovation project to take four months, with construction beginning in September.
It is the first major renovation of the regional district’s headquarters in its 40 year history.
