Stolen cigarettes and ice cream bars, and other Penticton crime

PENTICTON – Penticton RCMP continue to deal with higher call volumes this summer with another busy week at the detachment.

– Police continue to search for chronic offender Ronald Teneycke following his failure to show up for an intermittent jail sentence. Police media spokesperson Don Wrigglesworth says police have followed up on a number of tips and leads but have not located the man.

A rare motorcycle reported stolen last week from a Wilson Street residence was recovered after police apprehended a man struck by an arrow on the stolen motorcycle. The man refused to cooperate with police in explaining how he was wounded. He was treated in hospital, charged with possession of stolen property and released to face a future court date.

– A Honda CRX 250R was reported stolen from a residence in the 1000 block of Lindsay Road on July 15.

– Several youths caused a disturbance at the Japanese Gardens last week on Wednesday, July 15. They were drinking and in possession of drugs in public. One male youth was found to have 'magic mushrooms' in his possession, suspected MDMA tablets and other drug paraphanalia that supported a charge of possession for the purpose of trafficking. All youths were released to adults and face future court dates.

– On Sunday night, July 19, three suspects smashed the front door of the South Main Market and stole cigarettes and ice cream bars. All three were wearing hoodies and had on masks.

– A man was arrested Monday night, July 20, after kicking in the front window of Banks Travel Agency in downtown Penticton. The intoxiacated man was found by police and arrested. He has since been released with a court date to answer to mischief charges.

I have been looking for news in the South Okanagan - SImilkameen for 20 years, having turned a part time lifelong interest into a full time profession. After five years publishing a local newsletter, several years working as a correspondent / stringer for several local newspapers and seven years as editor of a Similkameen weekly newspaper, I joined iNFOnews.ca in 2014. As a member of the Kaleden community, I have been involved in the Kaleden Volunteer Fire Department for 22 years, and also serve as a trustee on the Kaleden Irrigation District board.
I am currently married to my wife Judy, of 26 years. We are empty-nesters who enjoy living in Kaleden with our Welsh Terrier, Angus, and cat, Tibbs.
