Early seasonal closure for Canada Games Pool

KAMLOOPS – A break in the main water supply pipe has forced the early closure of the Canada Games Aquatic Centre.

The necessary repair has prompted staff to reschedule the centre’s annual maintenance shutdown period, normally Aug. 24 to Sept. 7, to instead July 24 through to Aug. 7. The pool is officially closed as of 6:30 p.m., today, July 23.

Combining the pipe repair with the annual maintenance closure will allow for draining and refilling of the pool only once.

Alternative public swimming and lesson options are available at McDonald Park and Brocklehurst outdoor pools and Riverside Park beach.

Swimming lessons at the centre will be cancelled between July 24 and Aug. 7. Swimmers may choose to register for lessons starting Aug. 24.

The Tournament Capital Centre is not affected by this closure and will remain operational as usual.
