ELECTION 2015: Green Party picks Kamloops candidate for federal election

KAMLOOPS – The Green Party has chosen candidate Matt Greenwood to represent them in the Kamloops-Thompson-Cariboo riding for the upcoming federal election.

A member of the party since 2003, this is not Greenwood’s first time running with the Greens. In 2006 he chosen to represent the party in the same riding at the age of 25.

He also worked on party leader Elizabeth May’s campaign in Saanich-Gulf Islands in 2011.

Greenwood holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Economics with a minor in Philosophy from Thompson Rivers University. In Kamloops, he helped to create the Gleaning Abundance Project volunteer fruit-picking service and the Interior CarShare Co-operative. He also volunteers regularly with St. John Ambulance and currently works for ASK Wellness.

His top issues going into the campaign are democratic reform, enviro-conomy (an economic and environmental issue hybrid) and restructuring Canada's democratic, social, economic, environmental and parliamentary institutions and traditions.

Greenwood joins current MP and Conservative candidate Cathy McLeod, Liberal candidate Steve Powrie and NDP candidate Bill Sundhu in running for the Kamloops-Thompson-Cariboo riding.
