Interior Savings Centre era over, arena gets new name

KAMLOOPS – After more than 10 years as the Interior Savings Centre the arena next to Riverside Park will now be known as The Sandman Centre.

The Blazers, along with the City of Kamloops and the Sandman Hotel Group, announced a 10-year naming-rights partnership today, July 29.

The arena will continue to host all Blazers games as well as concerts, community events and other upcoming high profile hockey events such as the Subway Super Series, Hockey Day in Canada and the 2016 Women’s World Hockey Championships.

Opened in 1992 as the Riverside Coliseum, the arena has also been known as Sport Mart Place and more recently Interior Savings Centre.

The Sandman Hotel Group opened its first hotel in Kamloops in 1968 and another in 2014. It is also a major sponsor of the Western Hockey League.
