Yellowhead Highway crash claims a life, three others in serious condition
KAMLOOPS – One person is dead and three other passengers are in serious condition after a car crash south of McLure yesterday, July 28.
Const. Paul Koester, with the Kamloops traffic services division, confirmed the fatal two-vehicle crash, which closed at least part of the Yellowhead Highway for about four hours Tuesday.
Koester says a Volkswagen Jetta travelling southbound struck a GMC pickup truck turning left onto Kealty Road, 27 kilometres south of Barriere.
“We suspect that seatbelts were not being used by two passengers in the Jetta, including the deceased person,” Koester says.
The three other passengers in the Volkswagen were transported to Royal Inland Hospital in serious condition.
Koester says the occupant of the pickup truck suffered only minor injuries.
The investigation is ongoing.
