Stubborn wildfire near Oyama

LAKE COUNTRY – Lake Country firefighters found themselves back at the scene of a small wildfire  in the hills above Oyama dealing with hot spots Sunday morning.

The 0.5-hectare brush fire near Oyama Zipline on Oyama Lake Road was reported around 6 p.m. Saturday.

Fire Information Officer Kayla Pepper says a 3-person initial attack crew was sent to assist Lake Country firefighters with the blaze.

She says they were out of there by about 10:30 p.m.

Smouldering hot spots had local firefighters back in action around 10 a.m. Sunday.

No structures were threatened and the fire was expected to be completely out in a few hours.

It's believe to be human caused.
