Messi to marry childhood sweetheart in Argentina hometown
ROSARIO, Argentina – Lionel Messi and his childhood sweetheart are getting ready for their marriage in his Argentine hometown of Rosario at a ceremony attended by some of the biggest names in world soccer.
About 250 guests will attend Messi and Antonela Roccuzzo’s wedding Friday night. They include Barcelona teammates Neymar, Luis Suarez and Gerard Pique, who will be joined by his wife, Colombian singer Shakira.
Rosario is about 300 kilometres (186 miles) northwest of Argentina’s capital.
Argentines have been abuzz over the wedding, and curious onlookers are gathered near the five-star hotel that overlooks one of Rosario’s shantytowns. But the festivities are expected to be off-limits to the public.
