Reno victims’ relatives among Trump State of Union guests

RENO, Nev. – President Donald Trump has invited relatives of a Reno couple shot to death in their home last month to attend his State of the Union address.

Jerry and Sherri David’s daughter, Debra; granddaughter, Heather; and great-granddaughter, Madison, have been invited to sit in the gallery of the House of Representatives in Washington during the speech Tuesday night as the guests of the president and first lady.

A statement from the White House Press Office Monday stated that the Davids were “tragically murdered in their home by an illegal immigrant.”

Wilber Ernesto Martinez-Guzman, a 20-year-old Salvadoran immigrant, is suspected of being in the country illegally. He has been charged with open murder in the killings of the Davids and two other women in Gardnerville but hasn’t been convicted.

His next court appearance is scheduled Friday in Carson City Justice Court.
