A sneak peek into the new Kamloops casino

KAMLOOPS – It might look like the odds are against them, but the head of Gateway Casinos and Entertainment is confident the new casino in Kamloops will be up and running by the scheduled opening date in about a week and a half.

“We’re really in a good place, I know it doesn’t look like it,” Gateway Casinos CEO Tony Santo says with a laugh over the sounds of drilling and nail gunning at the under construction Cascades Casino on Versatile Drive.

The $40 million, roughly 2,000 person capacity casino will feature 500 slot machines, 18 table games and three poker tables; considerable improvements over its former facility.

Along with a stage for live entertainment, the casino features multiple walk-up bars, a sports bar, a buffet, and a higher end steak and fish restaurant.

Plans to build an auditorium have been put on hold after concerns about parking.
