Inflatable downtown water park opens to public

KELOWNA – Just in time for Canada Day weekend, Kelowna’s newest water attraction is open to the public.

Consisting of interlocking inflatable modules with a maximum capacity of 60 at a time, Wibit Water Park is anchored approximately 20 metres off the shores of City Park.

City councillors approved the attraction earlier this month, granting 20-year-old owner Rylie Gallagher a three-year lease for the summer months.

The attraction includes slides, rope swings, obstacles and a climbing wall. There is also an inflatable kiosk on the beach where customers pay $25 each before being fitted for a life jacket.

Joanne Leary of Vernon says her son Gavin, 12, made her promise to take him to the park as soon as he heard about it. They decided to include it in their Canada Day events.

“He loves anything to do with water,” Leary says. “This is right up his alley.”

The agreement with the city requires the site be secured 24 hours a day and a minimum of two lifeguards be present during business hours.

Kelowna Wibit will pay $27,000 for three years with an option to extend another two years.
