Man dies in hospital after industrial accident in Montreal

MONTREAL – A 56 year-old man has died following an industrial accident at a plastics manufacturer in Montreal.

The unidentified man was an employee at a company called Nu-B in the city’s north end.

He had climbed a ladder to retrieve a plastic strip in a rotating mechanism when he became caught between the machine’s two rollers.

The man’s hand became stuck and his entire arm up to his mid-chest went through the rollers.

An ambulance official says the man was rushed to hospital in critical condition but he later died of his injuries.

The company says in a statement that the cause of the accident remain to be determined and that it is fully co-operating with police and Quebec’s workers’ health and safety board.
