Body of missing Chase man found in river

KAMLOOPS – An 18-year-old Chase man who went missing during the Kamloopa Pow Wow was found dead in the river on Sunday.

Kamloops RCMP say Skyler Sampolio, who was reported missing Saturday, Aug. 1, was found in the South Thompson River on Sunday, Aug. 9.

Cpl. Cheryl Bush says there is no evidence of foul play.

There were reports of a person jumping from the bridge into the river Aug. 1, but it is unknown if Sampolio’s death is connected to those reports.

The family and Chief Judy Wilson say they are not ready to comment about the circumstances around his death.

The family will be holding a ceremony for Skyler at the Adams Lake Band Spiritual Centre on Wednesday, Aug. 12, at 3 p.m. with a wake to follow at 7 p.m. Services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at the spiritual centre.
