Maintenance work to shut down Vernon pool

VERNON – Only a few more days are left to visit the Vernon pool before it shuts down for a month of maintenance work.

The annual aquatic centre shutdown will start Monday, Aug. 24 and last until Sept. 21. This year’s closure will be an extra week long so recreation services can replace the flooring in the men’s, women’s and family change rooms with new tiles.

“(The) improvement in the participant experience and our ability to keep the facility clean will make the extra week worth the wait,” director of recreation services Doug Ross said in a media release.

The rest of the recreation centre will be open, but visitors are reminded to use the parking lot off 35 Avenue, and the curling rink parking lot off 39 Avenue, as well as the west entrance doors due to ongoing renovations to the front entrance, including the bridge.
