New Kamloops casino opens its doors tonight

KAMLOOPS – After some initial opposition and some construction setbacks, the Cascades Casino opens tonight, August 19.

Located on Versatile Drive on the site of the former Rona hardware store, doors open to the public at 8:30 p.m.

The casino floor features 500 slot machines and 18 gaming tables, for games like Black Jack.

Two poker rooms – one for private parties –  are new additions from the casino's former location in Hotel 540.

The $40 million, 65,000 square foot facility features three restaurants, multiple bars and patios and space for live entertainment.

An auditorium was originally planned, but concerns around parking have put it on hold. Gateway Casinos and Entertainment CEO, Tony Santo, says they will look at adding an auditorium once the casino is up and running.
