WolfPack men’s soccer to close out pre-season with exhibition tourney

KAMLOOPS – The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack men’s soccer team will put some more touches on s on preparing for the 2015-16 Canada West season this week.

The WolfPack will see their only home pre-season match action beginning Thursday (Aug 20) afternoon when they entertain the University of Northern British Columbia Timberwolves.  Kickoff is 4 pm.
 

John Antulov’s crew has a record of two wins and a loss going into the match.
 

“We are still working on many things and players are still getting used to playing at this level so I am not exactly sure what to expect,’ the coach says. ‘Especially from our youngsters.”

The Timberwolves and WolfPack met twice in league play last year with TRU winning both matches (1-0 and 3-0).

That match is the first of a six team, three day tournament being hosted by the ‘Pack.

Play will resume on Saturday August 22nd with MacEwan Griffins facing UNBC at 9 am, The WolfPack facing Douglas College (PACWEST) at 11 am and UBCO Heat of Kelowna facing Langara College Falcons (PACWEST) at `1 pm.

Antulov says the progression of his club has been good but says they have a long way to go before their season opener

The tourney winds up on Sunday (Aug 23) with MacEwan taking on UBCO at 9 am, UNBC versus Douglas at 11 am and TRU doing battle with Langara at 1 pm.

All action is at Hillside Stadium.

Next week (Aug 28-29), TRU will head to Kelowna to play in an exhibition tournament hosted by the Heat.

The Wolfpack kick off their Canada West season at home: Saturday, September 12 th with a 2 pm kick off against the Trinity Western University Spartans.
