Police investigate deadly crash in Spallumcheen

SPALLUMCHEEN – A man is dead after crashing his car on the highway just south of Armstrong early this morning.

RCMP say an off-duty police officer discovered the man’s flipped car around 4:20 a.m., Aug. 21, on Highway 97A at Eagle Rock Road.

“The investigators have determined the vehicle was north bound (and) jumped the median then crossed the two south bound lanes of traffic and went into the ditch. It rolled and landed on its roof,” RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk says in a media release.

The 30-year-old driver was the only person in the car at the time. He was transported to Vernon Jubilee Hospital by ambulance but succumbed to his injuries.

“Our officers continue to investigate this crash and notify family members,” Molendyk says.

The highway was closed in both directions this morning, but reopened by 9:30 a.m.
