Another break-in at a Tickleberry’s location

PENTICTON – For the second time this month, thieves have targeted one of the Tickleberry’s ice cream shops. This time the family-owned business’s location in Penticton was broken into.

RCMP say Tickleberry’s on the Beach, the concession at Skaha Lake was broken into early this morning, Aug. 23.

The safe was torn off the wall and smashed open with the cash inside taken, according to a post on the Tickleberry’s website, which goes on to say “to post about another break-in actually breaks our hearts.”

Const. Mike Lewendon says officers are canvassing the area looking for security cameras, which may have captured the thieves in action.

He says the suspects cut the power to the building so the alarm didn’t go off.

Lewendon says several other concessions have been broken into over the last couple of days including the one at Sudbury Beach, Lakawanna Park and even the Peach on the beach at Rotary Park.

He says it’s not really a smash and grab.

“These places are pretty boarded up, they don’t have any windows,” he says. “They (thieves) are taking their time to break the locks and enter that way.”

Tickleberry’s Okanagan Falls location was broken into on B.C. Day, Aug. 3, when thieves rammed a stolen SUV through a wall at the popular ice cream parlour. The suspects tried to get into the pair of safes at the shop, but were unsuccessful.
