Halifax police say they have opened a murder investigation after a body was found in a stolen car in a church cemetery.

RCMP say officers received a report of the missing vehicle from North Preston just before 2 p.m. Tuesday and found the car soon afterwards with a dead man inside.

The black Honda Civic was located in a cemetery on Upper Governor Street at the St. Thomas Baptist Church in North Preston.

Police have identified the victim as 26-year-old Tylor Donovan McInnis of Halifax.

Investigators are asking citizens to get in touch if they noticed anything suspicious in the area on Monday or Tuesday before 11 a.m.
