Coroner identifies North Okanagan man killed in crash

SPALLUMCHEEN – The B.C. Coroners Service has released the name of a North Okanagan man who died in a car accident last week.

He was Matthew Jordon Maxime, 30, of Enderby, the Coroners Service says in a media release.

Maxime was driving on Highway 97 near Eagle Rock Road in Spallumcheen, just south of Armstrong, when his car jumped the median, crossed two southbound lanes of traffic and went into the ditch.

The vehicle rolled and landed on its roof and an off-duty police officer discovered the car about 4:20 a.m. Friday, Aug. 21.

Maxime, the sole occupant of the vehicle, was rushed to Vernon Jubilee Hospital but died of his injuries.

The Coroners Service and RCMP Traffic Services continue to investigate the crash.
