Municipal police in Mexico’s Veracruz state kill 2 in mix-up

MEXICO CITY – Prosecutors in the Mexican state of Veracruz say municipal police allegedly killed two people after confusing their vehicle with one the police were pursuing.

The state Attorney General’s Office said in a statement Tuesday that multiple shots were fired into a misidentified vehicle by local police from the city of Martinez de la Torre. A 36-year-old victim and 17-year-old son were killed as they drove through Emiliano Zapata.

They say the alleged perpetrators have been identified.
