Crash that led to 30-foot drop under investigation

CHASE – The occupants of an SUV are recovering from minor injuries after sliding 30 feet down a steep embankment yesterday, Aug. 31.

Sgt. Gary Heebner from the Chase RCMP detachment says the driver of a black Dodge Journey drove off the Adams Forest Service Road near the Adams Lake Provincial Park. The vehicle fell 30 feet down the ridge and came to a stop upside down on a tree.

Heebner says members of Chase RCMP, the Chase Fire Department, B.C. Ambulance and Shuswap Search and Rescue came to assist the driver and her passenger.

After securing the vehicle with a tow truck, search and rescue members performed a rope rescue to retrieve the occupants.

The pair were taken to Royal Inland Hospital with what is believed to be minor injuries.

Heebner says the cause of the crash is still under investigation.
