BELFAST, Maine – A yacht that was once used by American presidents is scheduled to dock at a Maine harbour.
WABI-TV reports the 104-foot (32-meter) yacht Sequoia is expected to arrive in Belfast on Monday.
The vessel will arrive on top of a barge since it is not currently seaworthy. It will be restored at French & Webb over the next several years.
Sequoia was built in 1925 and was available to presidents from the time of Herbert Hoover to Jimmy Carter. John F. Kennedy’s 46th birthday party was held on board.
The yacht will be wrapped during the winter and kept in a barn with a window so visitors can observe the renovation process.
