RCMP traffic stop leads to arrest and drug bust

The Kelowna RCMP Target Team were led on a brazen chase yesterday afternoon after conducting a traffic stop. They arrested a 27-year-old Kelowna man driving down Saucier Avenue and charged two passengers after finding a loaded handgun and supply of cocaine and methamphetamine in the car.

The cops pulled the man over when they found his license plate did not belong to the vehicle. The man attempted to flee the police by running away and breaking into a nearby home. When the police arrested the man, they discovered he was wanted for outstanding warrants in Vernon. 

A witness also observed one of the passengers remove a container from the vehicle while police were chasing down the driver. Police found cocaine, marijuana, methamphetamine and pills in the container when they recovered it from a nearby yard. They also found a loaded .25 calibre handgun and $710 dollars in cash in the vehicle.

The driver is now facing possible charges of obstruction and driving while prohibited. The passengers, a 31-year-old Kelowna man and 28-year-old Kelowna woman face potential charges of obstruction, possession of a restricted firearm, and possession for the purpose of trafficking.
