The Latest: Anchorage police arrest man after fatal crash

ANCHORAGE, Alaska – The Latest on a fatal Anchorage crash (all times local):

9 a.m.

Anchorage police have arrested the 49-year-old driver of a minivan that crashed early Wednesday, killing a passenger.

Luther Rollins was held on suspicion of manslaughter, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and felony assault.

Online court records did not list his attorney.

Police say Rollins at about 1 a.m. was driving at high speed on Debarr Road and failed to negotiate a curve.

The minivan with four passengers rolled multiple times and landed in the overflow parking lot of Alaska Regional Hospital.

The van had no back seats. Several occupants were ejected. A man died at the scene and a woman was critically injured.

Police say Rollins fled and was tracked down with a police dog about 15 minutes after the crash.

He was treated for injuries and arrested.

An early morning crash of a minivan in east Anchorage left a passenger dead.

Anchorage television station KTUU (http://bit.ly/29DSR3g) reports the minivan with five people inside at about 1 a.m. Wednesday was westbound on Debarr Road.

The minivan hit a curb and rolled into an overflow parking lot of Alaska Regional Hospital.

One passenger was ejected.

Four people, including the driver, were injured.

Police are investigating and say the driver may have been impaired.
