TORONTO – Music producer David Foster is set to be recognized at this year’s Juno Awards for his philanthropic work.

The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences says the Grammy Award-winning songwriter and composer will receive its 2019 humanitarian award.

The Victoria native will be honoured for his support of hundreds of charities, including the David Foster Foundation, which provides financial help to Canadian families in need of life-saving transplants.

The producer is known for his Miracle Gala and Concert fundraisers which draw some of the world’s biggest celebrities to perform live in Canadian cities.

In a release, Foster says he created his foundation in 1986 after meeting a young girl from his hometown who was awaiting a liver transplant.

The Allan Waters Humanitarian Award will be presented to Foster at the Junos industry gala dinner and awards presentation on March 16 in London, Ont.

The Juno Awards telecast airs on Sunday, March 17.
