LAWRENCE, Mass. – U.S. marshals have arrested a man in Pennsylvania they say set fire to a house in Massachusetts in 2011 and then fatally shot two people when they came outside.
The Northampton County Sheriff’s department says 30-year-old Waldos Rojas was arrested without incident in Easton on Wednesday.
Police say Rojas set fire to a home in Lawrence and fatally shot 29-year-old Daniel Diaz and 25-year-old Leyda Elizabeth Hernandez when they came outside.
The Eagle Tribune reports Hernandez’s brother was inside the house at the time, and he reported hearing up to 20 gunshots. He survived the fire.
Essex District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett says he expects Rojas to be extradited to Massachusetts to face charges of murder and arson. It was unclear if he had legal representation.
