Stolen Lake Country boat and truck recovered in Kamloops
THOMPSON-OKANAGAN – An observant off duty cop helped police recover a boat and truck stolen out of Lake Country Sunday night.
The astute officer noticed a boat and trailer being unloaded on the side of the highway in the Dallas area early Monday morning, Sept. 7 and turned around to keep an eye on the suspicious activity. According to a media release from the RCMP, the off-duty cop watched the vehicle leave the boat on the side of the highway and proceed to meet with a Dodge pickup truck. That truck then hooked up the boat and departed.
The off duty cop helped responding officers by keeping an eye on everything until they could stop the suspects.
RCMP officers were able to recover the pickup and boat, which had both been stolen from the Lake Country area Sunday night, Sept. 6. A sawed off shotgun was also located in one of the vehicles.
Three men, two 28-year-olds and a 46-year-old male, are facing charges in relation to possession of stolen property, obstruction and possession of a prohibited weapon. All three are known to police in the Southern Interior and have previous criminal records.
