PENTICTON – Ladies, can you help Rotary break this male-dominated streak?
Although the diamond may have ended up on a lady’s finger, for the past two years men have won the diamond at the annual Rotary Diamonds on the Deck fundraiser taking place Friday, Sept. 18, starting at 4:30 p.m.
“We’re an equal-opportunity club,” says fundraiser chair Natalie Ferebee. “We’d like to see the diamond won by woman this year to help break the streak.”
Once again, Don Nguyen, owner of Gold Dust Jewellers, has proven his community spirit by donating a sparkling diamond worth thousands for the event.
In addition to the chance of winning a valuable diamond, for $50 participants will get two glasses of wine, enough food to stuff your belly, a door prize, and a glass of champagne.
“I talked to every person that attended last year and they were stuffed,” says Ferebee. “More food than they could eat, wine, door prize and a chance at winning a diamond, I mean, where can you get that for $50?”
Join Penticton Rotary at the scenic Red Rooster Winery on Sept. 18, 2015, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. for the Third Annual Diamonds on the Deck fundraiser.
The fundraiser supports Penticton Rotary projects in the South Okanagan. Last year funds raised supported the Penticton Rotary Community Kitchen at Okanagan School of the Arts. This year, funds raised will be supporting a mental wellness initiative at local high schools.
Tickets are available at the Penticton and Wine Country Visitor Information Centre of through Rotary at 250-486-0367. Red Rooster is located at 891 Naramata Rd. in Penticton.
