UPDATE: Owner reunited with artificial leg found on Penticton street

UPDATE: 3:20 P.M., SEPT. 15, 2015

The owner of the prosthetic leg found on Lakeshore Drive over the weekend has been found, Penticton RCMP report.

Penticton City bylaw officers called the detachment to say they knew the owner of the leg, Penticton RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Don Wrigglesworth says in a press release. The woman had gone for a swim Saturday and upon returning to the beach her leg was gone.

The lady is not the only person in Penticton missing a prosthesis. According to police, four different people in Penticton are missing their legs. A total of 14 messages with tips as to who the owner might have been after the story was released by media this morning.

10:09 A.M., SEPT. 15, 2015

PENTICTON – Penticton RCMP are looking for a leg up in their attempt to return some recovered property.

Penticton RCMP media spokesperson Cpl. Don Wrigglesworth says a citizen called police on Sep. 13 at approximately 2:50 p.m. after discovering what appeared to be a prosthetic leg on Lakeshore Drive.

The leg was wearing a women’s Saucony running shoe that appears to have been dragged some distance, as a portion of the upper part of the shoe is worn out.

Police have no idea at this time where the leg came from and are seeking the public’s assistance in locating the owner. Anyone with information, or who would like to claim this leg are asked to call Penticton RCMP at 250-492-4300.

I have been looking for news in the South Okanagan - SImilkameen for 20 years, having turned a part time lifelong interest into a full time profession. After five years publishing a local newsletter, several years working as a correspondent / stringer for several local newspapers and seven years as editor of a Similkameen weekly newspaper, I joined iNFOnews.ca in 2014. I am currently married to my wife Judy, of 26 years. We are empty-nesters who enjoy living in Kaleden with our Welsh Terrier, Angus, and cat, Tibbs.
