UPDATE: Student injured at NorKam Trades Centre in Kamloops

KAMLOOPS – The student injured following an incident at NorKam Trades Centre has been released from hospital this afternoon.

“We’re really relieved she's doing well,” School District 73 Asst. Supt. Alison Sidow says, adding she is not aware of the extent of the student’s injuries.

Sidow says an ambulance was sent to the centre and the student was transferred to Royal Inland Hospital. She believes the incident occurred this morning, Sept. 16, around 10 a.m.

“At first blush, it looks like an accident.”

Sidow says the district principal and health and safety manager were at NorKam today to conduct an investigation. They will come back with recommendations for the school board to review.

Sidow will not identify the student, saying only she is a female student part of the mechanical sampler program.

To her understanding, Sidow says the student was ‘bumped’ by a car.

The student is expected to return to school in the next day or so.
