Gateway Casinos grilling up something special in Vernon

VERNON – Gateway Casinos and Entertainment and their Lake City Casino property in Vernon invites everyone to their Annual Charity BBQ event.

On Sunday, Sept. 20 from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. they are having a barbecue benefiting the Kindale Developmental Association.

For a minimum donation of $10 you will receive a delicious barbecue burger lunch courtesy of the culinary team at Match, cake, and a U-Spin for a chance to win $5 to $50 instantly (for adults only). Live Entertainment graciously provided again this year by the Shawn Lightfoot Band.

“Lake City Casino is very proud to be able to help this local organization in such a fun way. The entire community is welcome and kids under 12 eat free. Let’s all show our support,” says Ryan Doherty, General Manager at Lake City Casinos.

"Kindale is very grateful that Lake City Casinos is hosting a fundraising barbecue for the third year in a row which will help us make the wishes, hopes and dreams come true for people with diverse abilities," says Cindy Masters Kindale Development Officer. “Since 1959, Kindale has been creating programs and services to make a difference in the lives of a segment of the population that is often forgotten. With the support of Lake City Casino and Match Eatery & Public House Kindale is expanding to support individuals during their transition from youth to adult services.”

Funds raised to date top $17,000.

This year the Lake City Casino team will be presenting Kindale with a cheque for over $3,400 plus all donations received at the event.

“By coming together as a community for this fundraising event we can all help Kindale provide opportunities, skills training, employment supports, and community integration for more than 300 adults with disabilities in the North Okanagan and Columbia-Shuswap.” says Doherty.

Don’t miss your chance to enjoy great food, live entertainment and support a very deserving cause.
