SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – A faculty member at a private Christian university in Missouri has died after suffering a medical emergency while leading seven students on a spring break trip to Scotland.
The Springfield News-Leader reports that Tim Trower said in an email that his wife, Donna Trower, died Thursday evening. She was 59 and the global connections co-ordinator at Evangel University in Springfield.
Trower said his wife began feeling ill last month during the final days of the sight-seeing and volunteering trip. She was rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Glasgow, where she suffered significant blood loss while undergoing surgery to remove her spleen.
The students she was overseeing ranged in age from 17 to 27, and they returned home days after she fell ill. Her family then flew to be with her.
