Ben Lee playground facelift begins in Kelowna

KELOWNA – Upgrades to the playground at Ben Lee Park will begin on Sept. 21.

Earlier this year, the City and the federal government announced a $100,000 investment to enhance the playground at Ben Lee Park, with each partner contributing $50,000 to the project. The project is part of the City’s efforts to increase accessibility in public spaces.

Only the area around the existing play structure will be closed during the upgrade, which is anticipated to take four to six weeks. The rest of the park remains open to the public. The closed area will be clearly marked and secured with temporary fencing.

Existing wood chips around the play structure will be removed and replaced with a rubberized surface as seen at the Parkinson Recreation Centre.

In the original announcement, the upgrades were to commence over the summer, with a temporary closure of the park, however this was pushed back to September, avoiding the peak summer season.
