The Kamloops commute this coming next week

KAMLOOPS – With Overlanders Bridge promised to be complete by Oct. 31, residents have only six more weeks of detours, single lanes and flaggers, as construction season reaches its final phases.

Overlanders Bridge

Crews continue to work on the east side of the Overlanders Bridge.

All southbound vehicles traveling downtown continue to detour through a temporary bypass off the southwest ramp. This bypass will remain in effect until the completion of the project.

All southbound heavy trucks must detour through Mission Flats or travel up Summit Drive.

The webcam feed at the south end of the bridge may be down intermittently due to electrical work taking place in the area.

Columbia Street

On Saturday, Sept. 19, crews will pave the south side lanes. Intersections will be temporarily closed as the paving machine works through and on Sunday, Sept. 20, crews will begin milling the north side lanes between Fourth and Sixth Avenues.

Intersections will be temporarily closed as the milling machine works through but a minimum of one travel lane in each direction will remain open at all other times.

Starting Wednesday, Sept. 23, crews will be pouring the north sidewalk.

The Route 9 Gleneagles bus traveling from downtown to Aberdeen continues to temporarily re-route on Battle Street.

12th Street reconstruction

Crews will continue to install a concrete sidewalk and curbing on the west side of the street between Lethbridge Avenue and Tranquille Road.

Residents are advised that once concrete is poured, access will be temporarily restricted to private driveways and lanes.

During the week, residents can expect intermittent, full closures with detours in effect.

Aberdeen Drive

Crews will begin concrete removal and replacement.

The construction window is Monday to Saturday, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., with possible night work.

Directional and alternating traffic will be maintained.

Dallas Drive

Crews continue to install the new sanitary line on the north side of Dallas Drive, between O'Connor Road and Kokanee Way.

Motorists can expect single lane, alternating traffic between 7 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., Monday to Friday. Lanes will reopen to two way traffic at night.

Bus stops affected during construction will be temporarily relocated. Signs will be in place at the affected bus stops.
