Gun complaints lead to arrest in Aberdeen McDonalds parking lot
KAMLOOPS – A man with a gun standing in the Aberdeen McDonalds parking lot led to an arrest this morning.
Local RCMP officers responded to the Aberdeen McDonalds at 8 a.m. today, Sept. 25 after receiving several complaints from people who witnessed a man with a gun standing in the restaurant’s parking lot.
Const. Jason Epp says witnesses described seeing the gun coming out of the man's backpack and he appeared ‘very nervous.'
"When police arrived they were able to make visual contact, and it was confirmed by officers that the male had what appeared to be a real gun barrel sticking out of the top of his backpack,” Epp says in a media release.
The man fled police but was quickly apprehended. Officers determined the gun was a replica sub machine gun in his backpack which also contained a small amount of drugs.
Epp says the man was arrested on outstanding warrants and will receive new charges for today’s incident.
