Kelowna Rockets fall to Giants in Vancouver

VANCOUVER – The Vancouver Giants defeated the Kelowna Rockets 5-2 on Sunday, Sept. 27, at the Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver.

Tomas Soustal and Lucas Johansen had the only goals for the Rockets, who were playing its third game in three nights, after opening the season with back-to-back wins over Kamloops.

The Giants jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the second period before the Rockets scored two straight. For Soustal it was his fourth goal in three games to start the season.

Michael Herringer took the loss in net as the Giants outshot Kelowna 31-25 in the game. Vancouver was 2-for-3 on the power play. Kelowna was 1-for-6.

The Rockets now have four straight games on the road beginning next weekend before returning to Kelowna, heading for Edmonton, Red, Deer, Lethbridge and Medicine Hat.

Kelowna's next home game is Oct. 9 against Victoria.
