Pride Parade taking over Thompson Rivers University this week
KAMLOOPS – Show support for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer community at Thompson River University's annual Pride Parade this week.
The university will host its fourth annual Pride Parade tomorrow, Oct. 1, starting at 11 a.m. in front of the Old Main building on campus. The event is open to all Kamloops residents, not just students.
While posters will be available at the event, attendees are encouraged to bring their own signs or banners or any other demonstration of support.
The event is organized by the campus Equity Committee to demonstrate support for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer community at the university and in Kamloops in general. The goal of the committee is to 'claim Thompson Rivers University as a safe space to study, work, and socialize regardless of your sexual orientation or gender identity.'
The university’s Pride Club asks parade attendees to come out after the event to Heroes Pub on campus for an evening of music, drinks and trivia. The event starts at 6 p.m. There is a $5 cover charge.
