Summerland pizza shop manager gets six months for sexual exploitation

PENTICTON – A Summerland man who pled guilty to sexual exploitation was sentenced in Penticton Court yesterday, Sept.30.

Pizza shop manager Josh Roberts received six months in jail and two years probation for sexual exploitation.

Roberts, 35, was charged after participating in a sexual relationship with a former female employee who was 16-years-old at the time the relationship began.

Crown Prosecutor Catherine Crockett was seeking "something more" than the mandatory minimum of 90 days for the offence, while defence lawyer Tyrone Duerr sought the minimum.

Roberts must also provide a DNA sample and pay a victim surcharge of $100.

I have been looking for news in the South Okanagan - SImilkameen for 20 years, having turned a part time lifelong interest into a full time profession. I am currently married to my wife Judy, of 26 years. We are empty-nesters who enjoy living in Kaleden with our Welsh Terrier, Angus, and cat, Tibbs.
Our two daughters, Meagan and Hayley, reside in Richmond and Victoria, respectively.
