Attention job seekers: Kamloops employers to participate in hiring fair

KAMLOOPS – Over 45 of the city’s largest employers will participate in the Kamloops Hiring Fall Fair later this month.

The Monday, Oct. 26 event will run from 12p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Coast Hotel and Conference Centre and is free.

The purpose of the hiring fair is to give job seekers the opportunity to meet face-to-face with a variety of potential employers, develop a network of local professional contacts and to both ask and answer questions.

Some of the participating employers and organizations include Walmart, Safeway, Investors Group, Mike Wiegele Helicopter Skiing, Tim Hortons, Tolko, Chances Casino, Moxies, Peavy Mart and the Trans Mountain Expansion Project.

Participants do not need to pre-register and the event is open to the public.

Organizers advise job seekers to research the companies they would like to apply to, dress appropriately, bring several copies of their resume and be prepared to talk about their abilities and skills. They are also encouraged to practice an “elevator pitch,” which is a quick summary of a seeker’s talents and why they would be a good addition to any team.
