Ex-doctor acquitted of sexually assaulting patients in exams
WORCESTER, Mass. – A former Massachusetts doctor has been acquitted of charges he sexually assaulted two patients during medical examinations.
The Telegram & Gazette reports (http://bit.ly/2q1drEs ) a jury found Dr. Ho Yin “Aaron” Shiu not guilty Tuesday in Worcester of rape and four counts of indecent assault and battery stemming from two assaults alleged to have occurred in 2013 and 2014.
A patient alleged that Shiu, formerly of Shrewsbury, touched her inappropriately during an examination at the spine centre at UMass Memorial Medical Center in November 2013. Another patient testified that he touched her inappropriately at AdCare Hospital in March 2014.
Shiu’s lawyer told jurors the women’s testimonies were inconsistent.
Prosecutors argued that two women who didn’t know each other wouldn’t falsely accuse the same doctor of sexually assaulting them.
