3 dead in western Mexico prison fight

MEXICO CITY – Three inmates in Mexico are dead after a prison fight broke out in the western state of Jalisco.

The state government says two of the inmates were serving sentences for kidnapping and the third for robbery.

It adds that the inmates were killed at the Ciudad Guzman prison Friday before their cell block was brought under control.

Mexico’s overcrowded, antiquated prison system has been plagued by riots, escapes and killings.
