West Kelowna Warriors fall Vees in OT

PENTICTON – The West Kelowna Warriors got goals 36 seconds apart in the second period to take the lead, but could not hold back Tyson Jost in a 4-3 overtime loss to the Vees Friday, Oct. 9, in Penticton.

The Warriors got the first goal of the hockey game from Garrett Forster at 14:49, as he hammered home a rebound past Zach Driscoll to make it 1-0.

Jost would get his first of three goals with a redirection off his skate at 17:37, as the teams remained tied heading to the break.

The Vees opened up a 2-1 lead halfway through the second period when Jost's second of the night was put past Forbes Ploszaj on a cross crease pass.

West Kelowna responded with a Liam Blackburn power-play goal at 16:52, before Kylar Hope went shelf on a breakaway just 36 seconds later. The Warriors outshot Penticton 24-19 through two periods.

Jost got his hat-trick goal just 26 seconds into the third period as he beat Ploszaj again through a screen.

The Warriors killed off a four-minute penalty to Blackburn in the latter stages of the third period and sent the game to overtime.

It didn't take long in OT for Scott Conway to move in on the left side and beat Ploszaj as the Vees picked up their ninth straight win. Final shots were 33-28 Penticton after a 13-4 margin in the third.

The Warriors are back in action Saturday, Oct. 10, against the Powell River Kings at Royal Lepage Place with a start time of 7 p.m.
