Panama’s honorary consul in El Salvador found dead

SAN SALVADOR, El Salvador – Authorities in El Salvador say Panama’s honorary consul in the country has been found dead in his vehicle.

The Attorney General’s Office and National Civil Police say that a man’s body was found in an exclusive neighbourhood of the capital. Salvadoran businessman Carlos Armando Lemus had a bullet wound to the head and was found with his diplomatic credential. The engine and lights of his pickup were on.

Authorities didn’t say Thursday is they suspected homicide.

Lemus lived in the neighbourhood. He was owner of a company that sold machinery for processing coffee and he’d been honorary consul for Panama for 20 years.
