PENTICTON – Penticton Creek will get a $63,680 study to find out how it can last for 150 more years.

The Habitat Conservation Trust Foundation forked the cash over to the city to research the best way to rehabilitate Okanagan Lake's third largest tributary.

The creek was created to prevent flooding which was a regular occurence in downtown Penticton in the 1950s. The study and future restoration will also improve kokanee and rainbow trout habitats. All designs will be guided by current and projected flood control requirements. The primary section of creek being considered for this project runs through the urban core.
